The Mountain Festival in Alagna, at its second edition, organised by myself and Roberto Veggi, did not disappoint with climbing superstars James Pearson and Caroline Ciavaldini, together with film director Pietro Porro.
James and Caroline are fun to be with. Always smiling and ready to crack a joke, they are as good laughing companions as seriously committed climbers.
In Alagna they presented Pietro Porro’s and Riky Felderer’s film Hyknusa http://vimeo.com/48945732
Shot in Sardinia, it shows the ascent of three of the most difficult routes on the island: Amico Fragile 8b, Mezzogiorno di fuoco 8b, Aria 8a+
They entertained the audience telling their stories, Caroline coming from the world of sport climbing competitions, James a trad climber through and through. A passionate account of how their experiences are intertwined and how they learn from each other day by day. I was their interpreter for the evening.
Their Italian stint continued with a visit to Cadarese to train a little.
James is so at ease that he sometimes just climbs with trainers… And Caroline is always making the most of every climbing opportunity…
See you next time you are over!
